Richard Roberts is the Managing and Design Director at Jason Bruges Studio. He trained in architecture at the Bartlett (UCL) and worked for a number of international practices before joining JBS. Now Richard leads a diverse team of architects, artists, lighting designers, industrial designers and visualisers as well as specialists in electronics, programming and project management to deliver digital artworks worldwide. Jason Bruges Studio is internationally renowned as a pioneer of the hybrid space between art, architecture and technology. Their artworks are site-specific, ‘sculptural barometers’ that tap into the emotional tapestry of a community or place by translating live feedback into living, breathing, spatial interventions. Some of their most celebrated pieces include a city-scale robotic installation for Hull UK City of Culture 2017, a site-specific light installation based in the main nave of York Minster, and an immersive installation in Denmark that represents 12 million migratory birds and their unique landscape.
