Patrick Burgoyne, one of the UKâ€™s most thoughtful and respected design commentators, has been the editor of Creative Review magazine since 1999. Before joining the magazine (as Staff Writer) he worked in marketing, first for the Body Shop and later for the University of Westminster, whilst also moonlighting as a writer for magazines such as The Big Issue.
Patrick replaced the magazineâ€™s previous editor Lewis Blackwell immediately prior to the titleâ€™s 20th anniversary and during his time at Creative Review has significantly expanded the magazines scope, overseen a number of re-designs and refinements, and pioneered its digital presence, including the launch of the CR Blog which enjoys an active worldwide readership. He has also championed the magazineâ€™s support for young designers via its â€˜Creative Futuresâ€™ initiative.
He is the author of several books on design and visual culture, including Board: Surf/Skate/Snow Graphics and Reload: Browser 2.0 and has written about design and the creative spirit for many non-design publications, including The Guardian, The Independent, Scotland on Sunday, Arena and La Repubblica.
