Typeradio is a paradox in terms. Type is printed and radio talks. Typeradio is naturally speech on type. It is a MicroFM broadcast, a MP3 radio stream and a podcast station. Initiated in 2004 by Underware (Akiem Helming, Bas Jacobs and Sami Kortemaki), DBXL (Donald Beekman) and LoveLiza (Liza Enebeis), the 5 strong team visit different design events around the world to meet designers and to talk. From Peter Saville to Stefan Sagmeister, from Mathew Carter to Massimo Vignelli. Over 400 episodes online free to download with 5000 listeners daily.

Donald Beekman was born and raised in Amsterdam. After studying at the Rietveld Art Academy he started his own graphic design and music studio called [DBXL]. All his life Beekman has been making music in various bands, leaving him with a large network of people in the music business. Over the years he has designed many logos, record and cd sleeves, flyers, posters, identities, magazines and packaging.

Beekman also designed many typefaces, most of them emanating from logos or artwork designed for clients. These clients are from the music and entertainment industry, like party organisations, record labels and deejays. But also cultural institutions, theatre companies and smart drugs distributor Conscious Dreams found their way to DBXL.Beekman's fonts are published by FontShop International, VetteLetters, Die Gestalten and Cape-Arcona.

Since 2004 Beekman has been part of Typeradio, the radio- and podcast-station on design and typography.

Liza Enebeis is currently Creative Director at Studio Dumbar, Rotterdam, a unique design studio that focuses on visual identity and Co-founder and Host of Typeradio, a podcast station on type and design.  Her education began at Parsons School of Design, Paris, continued with a masters at the Royal College of Art, London, and followed up by working at Pentagram, for several years.

Firmly rooted in the field of design, her curiosity made her not only want to pursue a career in design but also investigate the various aspects of it. This led to initiatives such as Letters to Loveliza, a column that advises desperate designers, Design Rhymes, a succession of pathetic rhymes about design and Typeradio.org a continuously growing archive with more than 400 interviews of designers from all around the world, and a current count of 5000 listeners daily. ?This interesting mix of applied design, research and witty observations makes her happy being in the field.
