Michael Johnson runs johnson banks, which has long had an interest in branding the 4c’s – cities, countries, culture and charities.
He’s worked on many projects for the British Government, art centres in Philadelphia and Paris, a space observatory in Japan and bilingual typeface in China. In London, he’s just done the Science Museum and his first airline, Virgin Atlantic.

Johnson writes for many design journals and lectures worldwide on identity issues and design history. He’s won most of the design world’s most prestigious awards (including eight D&AD pencils), and was D&AD President in 2003, one of the youngest president’s ever. He has written one book, Problem Solved, and is working on two others. In his spare moments he edits the design blog, Thought for the week.
